1970s C.A.S. Vietri Fat Lava Ceramic Mug Set
These 1970s ceramic mugs by C.A.S. Vietri feature thick volcanic glaze, cratered texture, and exaggerated sculptural forms throughout. The surface feels almost lava rock-like, with layered tones of cream, mauve, charcoal, and deep brown. Produced in Vietri sul Mare on the Amalfi Coast, a region known for expressive Italian studio pottery and hand glazed ceramics. Each mug carries slight variation in glaze and texture. Nothing overly refined. The kind of ceramics that make plain tableware feel deeply boring.
Sold in sets of four. Two sets available.
Dimensions:
5.25" Width
3" Height
3" Diameter
Condition: Consistent with age and use. Chipping present throughout multiple mugs, primarily along rims and bases. The heavily textured volcanic glaze softens much of the visible wear and adds to the overall character of the pieces. Sold as found.
